What’s doing in 2008Marco has hit the ground running in 2008 after launching his new book Poet in The Pub at Tamworth and winning Best Album for Cowpokes & Indians at the Australian Bush Laureate Awards performing alongside Troy Casser Daley and Amber Lawrence. Marco heads to WA in February for the Booyup Brooke C.M. Festival, before returning for a host of Writer in Residency Programmes, Corporate After-Dinner Engagements, and appearances at Voices on The Range and Voices on The Sunshine Coast Literary Festivals. Marco is also heading to Charters Towers for public performances in late April, Bundaberg in July, and is already booking artists for the Poet/Comedy/Breakfast Program at The National Country Music Muster in August. For ten years, Marco Gliori has travelled Australia with his original Poetry and Comedy Performances.
Whether it be performing at Corporate Dinners, or co-ordinating and compering the famous Bush Poets Breakfasts and Comedy Shows at the National Country Music Muster at Gympie, Marco is in hot demand. He is a record 4 times winner of the Tamworth Country Music Festival Poetry Performance Award. His contemporary images and easy listening repertoire have earned him The Spirit of Matilda Award held in conjunction with the 100 year anniversary of Waltzing Matilda. In 2001 Marco was commissioned to write a poem to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the The Federation of Australia. Marco has completed over 2000 shows for young Australians courtesy of both the Queensland and Victorian Arts Councils Artists in Education Program. He regularly travels to isolated communities writing poetry with school children and then performing adult comedy shows at night. How's that for diversity! He is presently part of the highly popular Naked Poets Comedy troupe whose CD The Naked Poets ...lie...v! may well be the biggest selling Contemporary Poetry Album in Australia. Marco lives on a picturesque 25 hectare mountain retreat east of Warwick in Queensland Australia with his wife Julie and 3 daughters 'and the magic Margie’
